- The Eternal Flame was lit in the village of Shaturtorf near Moscow with the support of United Russia
The Eternal Flame was lit for the first time in the village of Shaturtorf, Moscow region, with the support of the United Russia Party. The flame caught fire in the park near the memorial complex dedicated to those who died during the Great Patriotic War (WWII). Footage of the ceremony on May 6 is published by Izvestia.
For the holiday, a complete reconstruction was carried out at the memorial according to the popular program of the party. The history of the village of Shaturtorf is inextricably linked with the labor and military exploits of the country. During the Second World War, peat industry and energy companies ensured the stable operation of the energy system, including the supply of Moscow.
An eternal flame was lit at the memorial complex in a solemn atmosphere, after which the anthem of the Russian Federation was played and flowers were laid.
"For me, this village is not just a place of residence – it's my homeland, everything is native here. And on this beautiful day, first of all, I would like to thank those who organized this holiday, transformed our modest monument to the fallen soldiers, transformed it into such a beautiful monument for our village," said Anatoly Rebrov, a retired former director of the Shatura peat enterprise.
He noted that all celebrations, including wedding ones, will take place here, and the memory will not gradually fade away, but only develop and strengthen in the younger generation.
On the same day, the Moscow branch of United Russia (EP) organized an action "Electric Train of Victory" on the eve of Victory Day. A train carrying WWII participants, former concentration camp prisoners, yunarmeyts and volunteers set off from the MCD-4 Zheleznodorozhnaya station in Balashikha to the Belorussky Railway Station in Moscow. On the way, the veterans shared their memories of the events of the war years. In addition, creative teams performed songs of that time, and the staff of the Russian Railways Museum told interesting facts about the work of the railway during the Great Patriotic War.
