Heavy flamethrower systems TOS-1A "Solntsepek" turn the enemy's capital fortifications into traps. This was reported on May 6 in the Telegram channel of Rostec State Corporation.

"Capital fortifications serve as serious protection against high-explosive weapons. If the power of the ammunition does not allow to destroy the structure or collapse the supporting elements, then the chances of the enemy remaining intact are very high," the report says.

The state corporation explained that thermobaric munitions of the Solntsepek and Tosochka systems change this logic: due to a long-lived shock wave and a sharp pressure drop, an impregnable fortress becomes an enemy defeat zone that cannot be left. The damaging factor envelops and flows into shelters, even if the buildings themselves remain intact.

The Russian military demonstrated a tactical technique available only when using this technique. The TOS-1A is considered one of the most effective examples of domestic weapons, which has no direct analogues in the world. The firing range of the system ranges from hundreds of meters to several kilometers, which allows it to provide support to assault groups.

The full salvo of the Solntsepek takes several seconds and covers an area of up to 40 thousand square meters. m.
