The Mufti told us what time the prayer on Eid al-Adha will begin.

The time of the festive prayer on the occasion of Eid al-Adha in Moscow and the Moscow region is scheduled for 7:00 a.m. on May 27. This was announced in an interview with Izvestia by the deputy chairman of the Spiritual Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Spiritual Board of Muslims of the Moscow region, Mufti Rushan Abbyasov.

He recalled that Eid al-Adha is one of the two main holidays of Islam and is associated with the completion of the Hajj, as well as with the story of the Prophet Ibrahim and his son Ismail, who showed the highest degree of obedience to God. The holiday symbolizes sincere faith, readiness for self-sacrifice, as well as charity and the sanctity of human life.

"For believers who are not on Hajj, the holiday begins with the morning collective prayer — Eid-namaz, which is performed in mosques or on specially designated sites. Believers perform a full ablution in advance, put on clean festive clothes and go to prayer," the mufti said.

The key element of the holiday remains the rite of sacrifice, performed in memory of the readiness of the Prophet Ibrahim to fulfill the command of the Almighty. According to tradition, meat is divided into three parts: one is left to the family, the second is given to relatives and friends, the third is given to those in need, while it is allowed to completely transfer it to those who need support.

This is one of the main Muslim holidays, which commemorates the Prophet Ibrahim.

Eid al-Adha is of particular importance for Hajj pilgrims. By this time, they have completed the main rituals, including standing on Mount Arafat and spending the night in the valley of Muzdalifa. During the holiday, they continue rituals in the Mina Valley, including the ritual of stoning Shaitan, which symbolically refers to the story of the Prophet Ibrahim. The pilgrims also perform a sacrifice and a ceremony of shaving or shortening their hair, which symbolizes spiritual purification and renewal, the mufti noted.

The feast is one of the main elements of Eid al-Adha. It is believed that the richer and more diverse the treats are, the better the holiday will be. On the first day, dishes from the liver and heart of a sacrificial animal are traditionally served at the table.
