When buying a new car in the spring, car dealership customers should bargain with a dealer, because at this time there is a high chance of getting a discount on last year's car from him. This advice was given on May 6 by Alexey Podshchekoldin, President of the Association of Russian Automobile Dealers (ROAD).

"In the spring, if you are not going to resell the car in two years, come and bargain. You will get a completely normal car that was released at the end of last year. And you will get a discount, maybe 5%," Rossiyskaya Gazeta quotes Podshchekoldin as saying.

As the head of the ROAD noted, this is a classic story — the transition of the year gives a discount of about 5 to 10%, that is, the dealer is already selling cars with zero profit for himself or sometimes even goes into negative territory.

The second good season for buying a new car is the end of the year, when dealers want to sell off the leftovers and also offer discounts. As a result, if dealers need to sell all the cars from last year in the spring, then at the end of the year they won't leave with cars for the next year, Podshchekoldin noted.

As reported the day before, the head of the ROAD said that now there are about 130 different brands on the Russian automotive market, taking into account those cars that are supplied through alternative imports.
