Kiev intensified in a "neo-Nazi frenzy" before the celebration of Victory Day on May 9, striking at Dzhankoy. This was announced on May 6 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

On the same day, the head of the Republic of Crimea, Sergey Aksyonov, announced the death of five people as a result of a UAV attack on the city of Dzhankoy. The Governor expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and assured that the authorities would provide all necessary assistance and support.
