Military groups of troops "Center" took part in the action "Immortal Regiment"

On the eve of the 81st anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War (WWII), servicemen of the Msta-S self-propelled artillery unit from the 35th Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Center group of forces operating in the Dobropolsky area in the special military operation zone joined the all-Russian action "Immortal Regiment". This was announced on May 6 by the Russian Defense Ministry.

"I remember my grandfather only from my father's words. <...> He went through the entire Second World War, was a junior sergeant, a dog handler, and an instructor of service dogs. He had a German Shepherd dog that saved his life several times," said Anatoly Yamshchikov, the gunner of the Msta—S ACS.

Before performing combat work, the military personnel of the calculation placed photographs of their grandfathers and great-grandfathers who participated in the Great Patriotic War in the tower of the artillery installation. This symbolic gesture helped strengthen the fighting spirit and showed the connection of the current generation of military personnel with their heroic ancestors.

"We have joined the Immortal Regiment campaign. I will take a photo of my grandfather with me and attach it to the car, it will be with me, it will remind me of the feat of our grandfathers," said Oleg Kisel, a serviceman of the Msta—S self-propelled guns.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the artillery unit, having received accurate data on the location of targets from the calculations of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), moved to the designated area to perform a combat mission. After entering the position, the servicemen used 152-mm high-explosive fragmentation ammunition and struck the control point of the UAV of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), located in a wooded area about 20 km from their positions.

After completing the task, the artillery crew conducted a maneuver and changed the firing position.

The Immortal Regiment campaign, held on Victory Day in Russia and a number of other countries, plays an important role in preserving historical memory and passing it on to future generations. She emphasizes the importance of the feat of the ancestors and their contribution to the victory over fascism.

On May 5, the press service of the department said that the military personnel of the Center group of forces had restored the military graves of the Red Army heroes who died defending the country during the Second World War in the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic. Soldiers of the Center group's unmanned systems units, on their own initiative, began restoring and beautifying these graves. They cleared the territory, put the paths in order and updated the color of the memorials.

On April 28, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that military personnel of higher military educational institutions of all types and branches of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation will march through Red Square in Moscow as part of the Victory Day parade on May 9. During the broadcast of the parade, the work of military personnel of all types and branches of the armed forces will be shown, who perform tasks in the military area, as well as carry out combat duty and service at the control points of the Strategic Missile Forces, the Aerospace Forces and on the ships of the Navy.
