Employees working on May 9 should receive double pay or time off, as the second May holidays begin this year on this date. This was announced on May 6 by Evgeny Masharov, a member of the commission of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation for the public examination of draft laws and other regulations.

"Work on holidays under any regime must either be paid in double amounts or compensated with time off," he said in an interview with TASS.

Masharov added that on other days, payment should depend on the work schedule, if a Russian works a standard five-day work week, then his work should be paid according to similar rules.

Tatiana Golubeva, senior lecturer at the RANEPA Department of Business, Labor and Corporate Law, said on May 5 that Russians whose payday falls on May 10 can receive money earlier — on May 8, since the set date falls on a holiday weekend. She added that the holidays of May 1st and 9th are included in the calculation period for determining average earnings. According to her, the charges for these dates are taken into account along with other payments.
