The US State Department reported on the discussion of the situation in Ukraine by Lavrov and Rubio.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio discussed relations between the two countries and the Ukrainian conflict during a telephone conversation. This was announced on May 5 by the representative of the US State Department, Tommy Pigott.

"Rubio spoke with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov today at the request of the minister. They discussed relations between the United States and Russia, the Russian-Ukrainian conflict and Iran," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

At the same time, the pace of communication has noticeably decreased, the Foreign Ministry acknowledged.

The Russian Foreign Ministry reported on the same day that Lavrov and Rubio had a telephone conversation, during which they discussed the international agenda and the schedule of bilateral contacts between Moscow and Washington. The ministry clarified that the conversation was constructive and businesslike. No other details are given about it.
