Iran has announced new rules for the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz
Iran has announced the introduction of a new vessel passage system through the Strait of Hormuz. This was reported on May 5 by the Press TV channel.
"Under the new system, all vessels intending to pass through the Strait of Hormuz will receive an email from an official address <...> outlining the rules and regulations of passage," the publication says.
It is noted that after reviewing the rules, all vessels must adjust their activities and obtain a special permit for transit through the strait.
On May 4, American soldiers received the authority to strike boats of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and missile positions of Iran in the event of a threat to navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. He added that a source close to the US presidential administration described this as "the beginning of a process that could lead to confrontation with the Iranians."
On May 3, US President Donald Trump announced that the United States would help withdraw ships blocked due to the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. Trump also pointed out that the relocation of ships is intended only to free people, companies and countries that have become victims of circumstances.
In response, the head of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Iranian Parliament, Ebrahim Azizi, said that the Islamic Republic would regard any US interference in navigation through the Strait of Hormuz as a violation of the ceasefire between the parties.
