The Russian military told about the work with the Tornado-S MLRS on the front line
On May 6, Russian military personnel told Izvestia correspondent Tatyana Simonenkova about combat missions using multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) Tornado-S in the area of the special military operation (SVO).
"We are at a distance from the line of contact. The range of the Tornado-S is more than 120 km. However, it's dangerous here. This is a priority goal for the enemy, because rocket systems often work precisely at command posts," Simonenkova said.
The battery commander with the call sign Khoper explained that the calculations perform different tasks. He clarified that the military is eliminating accumulations of equipment and manpower, as well as control points for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of the enemy.
"The reconnaissance is flying, accordingly, they have spotted some kind of target - they give us the coordinates, we quickly equip ourselves, leave, work out and take cover," the serviceman said.
According to him, because of the large caliber, the command approaches the choice of targets, choosing the right moment to cover a large area or equipment.
In addition, the deputy commander of the combat vehicle crew with the call sign Batyr added that he performs various tasks, including additional provision of airspace surveillance.
On May 4, Izvestia correspondent Egor Kildibekov reported that Russian military personnel are actively using ground-based robotic complexes (NRTK) "Krot-2". It was noted that such drones are used, among other things, for the transportation of provisions and water. The NRTC helps out especially strongly in cases where it is not possible to deliver the cargo on foot or by other means.
