CNN has learned of Israel's desire to resume strikes on Iran

The Israeli authorities are in talks with the US administration about a possible resumption of strikes on Iran. This was reported on May 5 by CNN, citing an unnamed Israeli official.

"Coordination includes preparations for a possible new round of strikes on Iran, which will target energy infrastructure and the targeted elimination of senior Iranian officials," the publication said.

According to the source, "the goal is to conduct a short campaign to put pressure on Iran and get further concessions in the negotiations." At the same time, it is emphasized that the decision on such actions depends solely on US President Donald Trump.

The day before, the Central Command of the US Armed Forces (CENTCOM) reported that the United States would begin supporting the Freedom Project in order to restore freedom of navigation for commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz with the participation of 15,000 military personnel.

At the same time, the head of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Iranian Parliament, Ebrahim Azizi, said that Iran would regard any US interference in the navigation regime through the Strait of Hormuz as a violation of the ceasefire between the parties.
