Rosstandart has approved the preliminary national Standard (PNST), which is aimed at regulating the use of intelligent systems that improve environmental safety and reduce the negative impact of transport on the environment. The press service of the department reported this on May 5.

According to Rosstandart, the document forms uniform requirements for the use of artificial intelligence technologies for monitoring, assessing and predicting pollutant emissions by vehicles.

"According to PNST 1056-2026, artificial intelligence systems should calculate emissions based on the analysis of key parameters, including the atmospheric pollution index, smoke level and other indicators obtained using specialized sensors and equipment," the report says.

In addition, the standard provides for the introduction of an alert system in case of exceeding the established standards. So, the driver receives a notification about this directly at the wheel, as well as recommendations for further operation of the car. At the same time, AI systems transmit data on exceeding indicators to fleet operators, which will allow them to generate reports, as well as timely plan maintenance and repairs, the department said. After testing the preliminary standard, a decision will be made on its transfer to GOST.

Earlier, Rosstandart approved new GOST standards that establish uniform test methods for driver condition monitoring systems (alcoholics). As reported on January 20, they will ensure the reliability of devices that prevent driving while intoxicated, and should create transparent conditions for assessing their compliance.
