On March 5, US President Donald Trump, in an interview with radio host Hugh Hewitt, said that the armed conflict with Iran could last from two to three more weeks.

According to the head of state, the US armed forces have already completed the main tasks of the military campaign.

"We have already destroyed most of what we would like, we probably need two, maybe three more weeks. Time is not a determining factor for us," he said in an interview with ABC News.

Trump expressed confidence that the current confrontation would end either with the signing of an agreement with Tehran on Washington's terms, or with the final military defeat of the enemy.

"One way or another, we will win. Either we will make the right deal, or we will win an easy victory from a military point of view. We've already won this one. I've said this a million times, and so have other people. They had 159 ships, and now none. They're all at the bottom of the sea. Today, we have destroyed eight of their remaining small speedboats," the President of the United States emphasized.

In the same interview, the American leader said that it would take 20 years to restore the Islamic Republic of Iran after the war, after which it would still not be the same. Commenting on the results of several stages of the truce, he noted the work of his intelligence, which allowed him to obtain information about the accumulation of new military forces by representatives of Iran.

On May 2, the day his administration received a 14-point settlement plan from Tehran, Trump said he wanted to destroy all of Iran's remaining missile potential. The next day, he rejected the Islamic Republic's proposal to end the conflict, calling it unacceptable.
