The Tagansky District Court of Moscow has imposed administrative fines totaling 7 million rubles on the Telegram messenger for late deletion of information in accordance with the requirements of Russian legislation. This was reported on May 5 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.

The agency brought the messenger to justice under Part 4 of Article 13.41 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation, which provides for a fine of 3 million to 8 million rubles for legal entities.

In February, the head of the Ministry of Digital Affairs, Maksut Shadaev, reported that Telegram had ignored 150,000 requests to delete information banned in Russia. This was the reason for Roskomnadzor's decision to slow down the work of the social network due to violations of the legislation of the Russian Federation. Other details of the case were not disclosed.

On April 27, Telegram messenger blocked more than 105,000 channels and groups around the world. It was clarified that since the beginning of the year, more than 13.7 million groups and channels have been blocked on Telegram. Over the past week, the administration of the messenger has blocked almost 635 thousand channels.

On April 21, Izvestia learned that the Tagansky Court in Moscow found the Telegram messenger guilty of failing to remove content banned in Russia. It was noted that Telegram was given an administrative penalty in the form of a fine in the amount of 7 million rubles. The messenger was found guilty of an offense under Part 4 of Article 13.41 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of the procedure for restricting access to information, access to which is subject to restriction in the Russian Federation").
