Stubb stated the need for Ukraine for Europe
Europe needs Ukraine to "contain" Russia. This was stated on May 5 by Finnish President Alexander Stubb in an interview with Helsingin Sanomat.
"Europe needs Ukraine to contain Russia. <... It would be beneficial for us if Ukraine were a member of both the EU and NATO," he said.
According to him, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are now supposedly the "largest and most modern" army. In addition, Stubb said that it is necessary to think about how Ukraine can help Europe.
The Politico newspaper wrote a day earlier that there were concerns in the European Union (EU) that Russia was allegedly "opening a window of opportunity" in the next two years to strike at the countries of the association, due to the US withdrawal from the European security system.
On April 30, Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, announced that Russia had no aggressive plans towards Europe. According to him, at the same time, the rhetoric about a possible conflict with Russia is intensifying in Europe.
