The IAEA recorded damage at the Zaporizhia NPP after the Ukrainian Armed Forces attack

Experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) visited the Zaporizhia NPP on Monday, May 4, and confirmed damage to the equipment of the external radiation monitoring laboratory. This was announced on May 5 by the IAEA press service.

"Today, the IAEA team visited the laboratory of external radiation control of the Zaporizhia NPP (ERCL), the day after the station reported that it had been attacked by a drone," the agency said in a statement. Twitter).

Specialists conducted an inspection of the laboratory's territory and revealed damage to meteorological monitoring equipment. Currently, these devices are not functioning.

Against the background of the incident, IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi again called on the parties to the conflict to exercise maximum restraint near all nuclear facilities. According to him, this is necessary to prevent nuclear safety risks in the region.

On May 3, the Armed forces of Ukraine carried out an attack using an unmanned aerial vehicle on the laboratory of external radiation control of the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant. No one was injured in the incident.
