- The Liberal Democratic Party proposed to control the prices of air tickets during the holidays
The Liberal Democratic Party proposed to introduce constant monitoring of prices for railway and air tickets on holidays and weekends. On May 4, party leader Leonid Slutsky addressed the head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) Maxim Shaskolsky with such an initiative (Izvestia has the text of the letter).
"Every weekend or public holiday, ticket prices fly into space, which directly violates the socio-economic rights of citizens to free movement and is a blatant injustice. Only an honest economic justification for ticket prices, where carriers will be required to report on pricing on the FAS website, and the service, in turn, will be able to promptly take measures to regulate them. And in order for this rule to really work, we consider it necessary to carry out unscheduled control and supervisory measures on pricing. Stop profiting from people on holidays and vacations — flights and trips should be accessible to every resident of the country!" he said Slutsky in an interview with Izvestia.
He recalled that tickets for reserved and shared carriages of long-distance trains were indexed last year by 11.4%, and in the period from May to mid-September of this year, fares may increase by another 11-20%. At the same time, the situation with air tickets remains similar.
Alexey Ivanov, the owner of the Alliance Trucks commercial vehicle dealership network, told Izvestia on March 6 that the initiative to limit taxi price increases during severe weather could lead to a decrease in ride availability and an outflow of drivers from the market. According to him, the increasing coefficient in tariffs is not an attempt by aggregators to increase profits, but a mechanism that encourages drivers to get on the line in difficult weather conditions.
