Anna Shatravkina, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Dean of the Faculty of Pedagogy at Synergy University, explained the difference between healthy social media use and pathological addiction.

In conversation with the agency RuNews24.Ru On Monday, May 4, the expert noted that for some teenagers, social networks become a space for communication and creativity, while for others it is a way to escape loneliness, and it is the second scenario that more often leads to addiction. According to her, normal use should not displace sleep, study, live communication and hobbies: the child is able to put down the phone when necessary. If all your free time is spent on the screen, and the restrictions cause a strong emotional reaction, this is already an alarming signal. In such cases, as she explained, sleep worsens, academic performance decreases, interest in real life decreases, and the rejection of social networks is perceived painfully.

Shatravkina stressed that addiction is often associated with feelings of loneliness: teenagers are looking online for attention and acceptance, which they lack in reality. Therefore, it is important not only to limit time on the Internet, but also to provide an alternative — live communication and support. According to the expert, it is necessary to create an atmosphere in the family where the child is really heard and interested in his life without condemnation, as well as to encourage participation in clubs and sections.

In addition, she recommended developing rules for digital hygiene, such as avoiding phones at the table and before bedtime, and setting reasonable restrictions on the use of gadgets. At the same time, the expert stressed that the key factor in prevention remains the teenager's feeling that there are people nearby with whom he can share his experiences.

Earlier on May 4, neurologist Roman Lukmanov explained how to restore brain function after scrolling. According to him, for every 30 minutes of scrolling, 90 minutes of rest are needed. 360.ru .

At the end of April, expert Ekaterina Lebedeva assessed the danger of social networks for children. According to her, risks arise when social networks turn into a way of escaping reality: a teenager sacrifices his studies and basic needs, closes himself off, and shows aggression or anxiety in the absence of access to the Network.

At the same time, the head of the State Duma Committee on Health Protection, Sergei Leonov, said that restricting or banning access to social networks for minors was not the right position. In his opinion, the ban will not be beneficial, as children and teenagers will find a way to circumvent it using other gadgets or technologies, the website writes. kp.ru .

Also in April, Sergey Enikolopov, head of the Department of Medical Psychology at the Scientific Center for Mental Health of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, explained in an interview with NSN why young people are killing their self-esteem with fitness content. According to him, aggressive fitness content that destroys self-esteem is an obsessive bait for desperate people who become addicted to it, in this case, the help of a psychologist is needed.
