The statement by Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky about a possible attack on Moscow on May 9 may be an attempt to shift attention from the internal corruption scandal in Ukraine. Oleg Vedutov, a political strategist, told Izvestia on May 4.

"Now in Ukraine itself, the second series of publications of the so—called "Mindich tapes" is very actively underway, and it becomes clear that the level of corruption in Zelensky's entourage was actually comprehensive," he said.

According to the expert, the scandal affects the closest circle of the Ukrainian leader, and Zelensky himself "indirectly, through his relatives, could participate" in such schemes.

Vedutov noted that the topic of possible attacks on May 9 is heard almost every year, when either Zelensky himself or other Ukrainian figures promise provocation on Victory Day.

Political analyst Alexei Yaroshenko, in a conversation with Izvestia, stressed that the possibility of terrorist attacks on Victory Day cannot be ruled out because of the nature of the Kiev regime. He added that you can expect anything from him.

"The Kiev regime, led by Zelensky, is capable of the most heinous, bloodthirsty and anti—human acts and terrorist attacks," Yaroshenko said.

Despite this, Russia is ready to repel any attacks and is not afraid of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), which may stage a terrorist attack for the sake of a "Western audience," the political scientist emphasized.

On the same day, Zelensky hinted at a possible drone strike on Moscow on Victory Day. At the summit of the European Political Community, he said that Ukrainian drones could also appear on the parade.

In turn, Andrei Kolesnik, a member of the State Duma's defense committee, warned that the Ukrainian Armed Forces would receive multiple retaliatory strikes if they attempted to launch attacks during the Victory Day Parade in Moscow on May 9. In his opinion, the leader of the Kiev regime is not interested in peace, as this will mean the end of his rule, so he will continue to strike at civilian infrastructure.
