Less than a third of residents of the capital of Ukraine communicate exclusively in Ukrainian. This became known on May 4 from data published by the Apostrophe online publication.

The results of a language survey conducted in the Kiev Digital app show that 32% of Kiev residents communicate in Ukrainian everywhere, 14% — in government institutions, 13% — in shops and cafes, 11% — at work, 9% — at cultural events, 6% — at school, 4% — at home. Another 4% said they mostly communicate in Russian, and 7% found it difficult to make a choice because they use both languages.

At the same time, 75% of respondents indicated that they communicate exclusively in Ukrainian on social networks. In total, more than 46 thousand residents of Kiev took part in the survey.

On April 23, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, pointed out the popularity of the Russian language in Ukraine. According to her, restrictions on the Russian language in Ukraine are increasing and are manifested in the form of various bans, direct repression, quotas and "Spreichenfuhrers."
