Associate Professor of the Department of Political Analysis and Socio-Psychological Processes at the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, Reserve Colonel Alexander Perendzhiev admitted the likely outcome of the conflict with Iran for the United States.

In conversation with aif.ru On Monday, May 4, the expert noted that the situation around Iran has entered a protracted stage of "neither peace nor war": the United States is not ready to leave the Middle East without victory, and Tehran, in turn, does not intend to make concessions. He stressed that both sides are acting with a certain stubbornness.

Perendzhiev pointed out that the United States remains unhappy with the current situation: an attempt to get out of the conflict with its head held high has failed. In his opinion, Washington is striving for a conflict where it will be possible to declare victory unequivocally, and in this context, increased pressure is possible, including with regard to Cuba.

Also on May 4, American political scientist Malek Dudakov, in an interview with NSN, noted that this is not the first time that American leader Donald Trump has stated that he can easily overthrow the regime in Cuba, but in the context of the conflict in the Middle East, Washington is unlikely to be able to take such a step. In his opinion, Trump is unlikely to decide to restore the deal with Cuba on the eve of the US congressional elections.

On the same day, it became known that the Iranian authorities received an official response from the United States to their proposals to end the military conflict and began to study it. Tehran conveyed to the United States its proposal to resolve the conflict the day before. The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic, Ismail Bagai, said that Iran never conducts negotiations under conditions of "artificial restrictions," notes 360.ru .

On May 2, Trump announced that the United States could resume strikes on Iranian territory. He explained that such a development is quite real, writes RT. At the same time, he described the naval blockade of Iran carried out by the United States as "very friendly," the website clarifies. kp.ru . Trump also expressed confidence that Iran is "eager to conclude a deal," the Regnum news agency notes.

The two—month standoff between the United States and Iran formally ended on May 1, the White House notified Congress. The reason was the expired 60-day period, after which, without the approval of Parliament, the conduct of military operations is prohibited. Life.ru .
