The expert declared London's leadership in spreading Russophobic statements
All Russophobic sentiments mainly come from London, and the capital of Germany can be awarded a kind of "second place" in the anti-rating. This was announced on May 4 by Vittorio Torrembini, President of the Association of Italian Entrepreneurs (GIM Unimpresa) in Russia.
"By and large, all these Russophobic sentiments come mainly from London, well, even from Berlin, who make sure that everyone adapts to them. The British are generally great masters of provocative propaganda, as George Orwell wrote about when the BBC attracted him to this activity during the Second World War," he told RIA Novosti.
The expert recalled that this trend was observed back in the 19th century during the geopolitical rivalry between the Russian Empire and England for influence in Central Asia (the "Big Game"). In particular, he pointed to London's desire to "divide into parts" Russia and limit its role in the world.
"Ever since the days of the Big Game, Britain has been trying with all its might to oust Russia, limit its role in the world, and divide it into parts," Torrembini recalled.
On February 9, Alexander Gusarov, head of the North Atlantic Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, pointed to the escalation of confrontation from London. According to him, the British authorities are actively looking for allies in Europe who are ready to unite to confront Russia. At the same time, they consider the main thing to be the build-up of military tension in the waters of the Baltic and the Black Sea, as well as the active militarization of the Northern latitudes. In particular, Gusarov mentioned the decision taken in the UK last year to criminalize any unregistered interaction of residents and businesses with the "Russian state."
