The United States will begin supporting the Freedom Project on May 4 in order to restore freedom of navigation for commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz with the participation of 15,000 military personnel. This was announced on May 4 by the Central Command of the US Armed Forces (CENTCOM).

"US military support for the Svoboda project will include guided missile destroyers, more than 100 land—based and sea-based aircraft, multi-purpose unmanned platforms, and 15,000 military personnel," a post on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

The message also states that the mission, initiated by US President Donald Trump, will provide support to merchant ships seeking to pass through the Strait of Hormuz unhindered. A quarter of the world's offshore oil turnover passes through it, as well as significant amounts of fuel and fertilizers, the Central Command added.

On May 3, Trump announced that the United States would help withdraw ships blocked due to the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. Trump also pointed out that the relocation of ships is intended only to free people, companies and countries that have become victims of circumstances. According to him, this gesture will be an important expression of goodwill.
