Two US soldiers disappeared during exercises in Morocco

Two American servicemen disappeared during the military exercises "African Lion – 2026" in Morocco. This was announced on May 3 by the press service of the US Africa Command (AFRICOM).

"On May 2, 2026, two American servicemen participating in the African Lion 2026 exercise went missing near the Cap Draa training ground, near the town of Tan Tan, Morocco," the ministry said in a statement on its website.

Participants in the exercises, including from the United States and Morocco, have launched search and rescue operations involving land, air and sea assets. It is noted that the incident is under investigation.

According to the command, the main purpose of the exercises is to practice tactical actions, increase interaction between allies and check the compatibility of alliance units in combat training.
