The United States should not negatively assess the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi. This opinion was expressed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on May 3.

"I don't think so. Well, why should I?" he said in an interview with Pavel Zarubin, a journalist at the Vesti news agency.

This is how Lavrov answered a journalist's question about the possible negative reaction of the American side to such an initiative of negotiations between the Russian Federation and the Islamic Republic.

Putin met with Arakchi on April 27. The Iranian Foreign Minister, in turn, thanked Russia for its solidarity and support for diplomacy. The Russian leader also noted that he had received a message from Iran's supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei. Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted the importance of the meeting between the Russian president and the Iranian Foreign Minister against the background of the situation around Iran.
