American boxer David Benavidez defeated Mexican Gilberto Ramirez and won the WBA Super and WBO world heavyweight titles. The fight took place in Las Vegas on May 3.

As noted by the "Sport-Express", Benavides dominated from the first seconds. In the third round, he knocked his opponent down with a powerful left hook, and in the sixth, he put an end to a series of precise punches, after which the referee stopped the fight, fixing the knockout.

The 29-year-old Benavidez now has 32 wins (26 by knockout) and no defeats. Ramirez, 34, suffered his second career defeat with 48 wins.

The Russian national team will compete under its own flag and will fight for record prizes.

Japanese boxer Naoya Inoue retained the status of the absolute world champion in the weight category up to 55.22 kg. The match against compatriot Junto Nakatani took place on May 2 in Tokyo and ended with Inoue's victory following a judicial decision.
