Cypriot journalist Alex Christoforou said that possible delays in the supply of American weapons to Ukraine may be related to harsh statements by President Vladimir Zelensky addressed to US President Donald Trump. He announced this on May 3 on his YouTube channel.

"Immediately after the hysteria and threats, the weapons abruptly ran out," said Hristoforou.

According to him, Washington allegedly warned the allies in advance about possible supply delays amid escalating rhetoric between Zelensky and Trump.

The journalist believes that the Ukrainian leader underestimates the personal qualities of an American politician, including his susceptibility to criticism and a tendency to harsh retaliatory actions.

Hristoforou also suggested that U.S. officials could explain the supply disruptions for foreign policy reasons, in particular tensions in the Middle East. However, in his opinion, the real reason may be Trump's personal reaction to the public statements of the Ukrainian president.

On April 27, Hristoforou called Kiev's demands for a new loan from the EU shocking. According to the expert, Kiev's request for further financing over the next few months was expected.

On April 23, the EU finally approved the allocation of a loan in the amount of €90 billion to Ukraine. The funds will be received by the EU in the format of Eurobonds, which will be paid by European countries. Of the total amount, €30 billion will be allocated for macroeconomic support to cover budget needs.
