In the spring, Russians may experience hemorrhagic fever in their dachas, which is carried by rodents. This was reported on May 3 in the press service of Rospotrebnadzor.

"With the onset of the summer season, Rospotrebnadzor informs about how to protect yourself from hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome, a serious infectious disease that affects small blood vessels, kidneys, lungs and other human organs. Among rodents, the main sources of the virus are red voles that live in forests," the RIA Novosti press service reports.

In addition to the red vole, other mouse-like rodents can also infect humans with hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS). The virus is resistant to cold and persists for a long time on contaminated objects, and there is no vaccine against HFRS. Rospotrebnadzor notes that the incubation period lasts 2-3 weeks, after which weakness, chills, headache and muscle pain, joint aches, vomiting, and insomnia appear.

To reduce the risk of infection, it is recommended to ventilate and dry mattresses, pillows and other items in the sun before the summer season — sunlight is harmful to the virus. House cleaning should be carried out with a mask and gloves, as well as rodent control and personal hygiene.

On May 2, the press service of Rospotrebnadzor reported that the best way to protect against the encephalitic tick is vaccination. The department also noted that special tools can be used for additional protection. Insecticidal drugs allow you to protect yourself almost completely from ticks. After contact with such products, they lose their ability to be absorbed, and the protective effect persists for up to 15 days.
