Former captain of the Russian national football team Alexei Smertin took part in the Moscow super marathon "Day running" on May 2, covering a distance of 208 km.

According to TASS, he took the 25th place among 61 participants of the race. The competition was held from 1 to 2 May at the Pervomaisky Stadium and became the 35th Moscow super Marathon. This year's tournament also had the status of the Russian championship in the discipline of daily running.

The competition format provides for continuous movement for 24 hours without a fixed distance. Participants choose their own pace, can take a step, make stops for rest or food. The final result is determined by the total distance traveled in the allotted time.

The winner of the competition was Alexander Moedo, who covered 285.2 km and updated the Russian record. The previous achievement belonged to Denis Zhalybin and was 282.2 km.

Kenyan track and field athlete Aries Korir won the Moscow Half Marathon on April 26, setting a new competition record. Korir covered the 21.1 km distance in 59 minutes and 35 seconds. The previous achievement was recorded in 2025, when the Ethiopian Teresa Nyakola Gela ran the distance in 1 hour, 2 minutes and 39 seconds.
