The Russian Ministry of Defense showed footage of the capture of the settlement of Miropole in the Sumy region. The corresponding video was posted on May 2.

"Units of the North group of forces, during the performance of combat missions of a special military operation, actively established control over the settlement of Miropole in the Sumy region," the ministry said in a statement.

According to the ministry, during the assault, motorized rifle units, supported by calculations of unmanned systems, drove the enemy forces out of the village. It is also noted that the artillery struck at suitable reserves.

The Defense Ministry clarified that the enemy suffered losses and abandoned their positions. The units continue their offensive operations in several directions, forming a security zone in the border areas of Sumy and Kharkiv regions.

According to the ministry, the advance is being conducted in order to push the enemy away from the state border and ensure the safety of the civilian population.

The day before, Russian military personnel established control over the village of Pokalyanoye in the Kharkiv region. The manpower and equipment of seven mechanized, four motorized infantry brigades, three assault regiments of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, eight air defense brigades, two National Guard brigades and two border guard detachments of the Border Service of Ukraine were also defeated.
