- The expert admitted the development of weapons in Russia based on new physical principles
Russia may be developing weapons based on new physical principles. This opinion was expressed by Igor Korotchenko, editor-in-chief of the National Defense magazine and director of the Center for Analysis of the Global Arms Trade.
"It can be assumed that we can talk about developments in the field of creating weapons systems based on new physical principles. Of course, these are strategic—class weapons," he said in an interview with TASS.
According to the expert, such projects can be implemented by enterprises and design bureaus of the Russian military-industrial complex. He also pointed out that the development of hypersonic technologies opens up opportunities for the creation of new types of missile weapons.
Korotchenko added that, according to his assessment, we can talk about the completion of tests and the transition to mass production of a number of promising systems. He attributed this to the current changes in the international situation and the growing role of military force in solving global issues.
The expert stressed that the availability of modern weapons is considered an important factor in deterring potential adversaries.
On April 30, interceptor drones and laser weapons were included in the forces on duty to protect the Russian state border in the airspace. They are designed to provide information about the aerospace situation to the control bodies of the Aerospace Forces and other branches of the armed Forces.
