According to the legislation, local authorities in certain territories of the Russian Federation may prohibit the lighting of an open fire, including for cooking kebabs. This was recalled on May 2 in the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation.

"In accordance with Article 30 of Federal Law No. 69-FZ dated 12/21/1994 "On Fire Safety", in the event of an increase in fire danger in the relevant territories, additional fire safety requirements may be established by state authorities or local governments, including a temporary ban on lighting an open fire, including the use of barbecues," the agency said in a statement. It is noted that for the offense provided for in art. 20.4.of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of fire safety requirements"), individuals are punished with a fine of up to 15 thousand rubles.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation earlier that day reminded about the rules of safe cooking of barbecue in the country. It is necessary to place the barbecue at a distance of at least 5 m from any buildings, 30 m from deciduous trees and shrubs, and from coniferous forests — no closer than 100 m.
