The expert spoke about the possibility of stopping the "popcorn" lung disease
The progression of the "popcorn" lung disease associated with vaping can be stopped at an early stage, while maintaining an acceptable quality of life. Tatiana Kim, an assistant at the Department of Hospital Therapy at the Institute of Motherhood and Childhood at Pirogov University, told about this on May 2.
"In the early stages, it is possible to stop the progression of the disease and maintain an acceptable quality of life. In this sense, inhalation of medical gases is a very promising method," Kim explained in an interview with TASS.
It is noted that by quitting smoking and following the doctor's recommendations, it is possible to stop the development of the disease, but shortness of breath may remain. A complete cure depends on the stage of the disease.
On April 1, therapist and pulmonologist Marat Farrakhov spoke about the dangers of vaping for the lungs. He warned that, despite the absence of tobacco in the composition, electronic cigarettes contain many chemical compounds that form an aerosol when heated, which contains nicotine, propylene glycol, glycerin and various flavors. Inhalation of these components irritates the mucous membrane of the bronchi and lungs, which can lead to chronic inflammation and increased sensitivity of the respiratory tract.
