Russian gymnasts won three gold medals at the European Cup in Baku
The European Rhythmic Gymnastics Cup in Baku began with the triumph of the Russian athletes. The main characters of the tournament were our juniors Yana Zaikina and Ksenia Savinova. They train under the guidance of Evgenia Eliseeva.
For both gymnasts of the main Russian national team, this continental cup is the first in their careers, and an immediate success. The pupils of the Celestial Grace Rhythmic Gymnastics Academy Alina Kabayeva confidently passed the tournament distance and won the team Cross Battle, confirming the high level of the Russian school in the international arena.
Ksenia Savinova also won gold in the hoop and ball exercises, while Yana Zaikina became the best in the ribbon exercise and won silver with clubs.
Gymnasts were able to get to the European Cup following the results of the Russian championship.: there, Ksenia became the winner, and Yana took the second place, thanks to which they received the right to represent the country on the international stage. Alina Kabayeva personally participated in the preparation of the athletes for these tournaments.
"Many thanks to Alina Maratovna for joining us, giving us advice and encouraging us. We love her very much!" said Yana Zaikina.
"It was exciting to go out for the first time because it was unusual. The whole hall is dark, and the only light is on the playground. And it's very cool, large-scale. This was not the case at other competitions, and this is the first time. The girls from Baku and I shouted and came up to take pictures. It's nice that there are fans in different countries," Ksenia Savinova admitted.
For Ksenia and Yana, this success is the result of a long journey. Three years ago, the Olympic champion herself noticed very young gymnasts from Gatchina and Volgograd, believed in their talent and gave them the opportunity to develop at the Heavenly Grace Artistic Gymnastics Academy of Alina Kabayeva.
Training, working with the strongest coaches and the constant participation of the Olympic champion in the training process helped to unleash the potential of the athletes to the fullest.
The first day of the European Cup in Baku was also successfully held for Russian champion Arina Kovshova, who trains with Elizaveta Chernova. She won gold and silver in individual sports, strengthening the position of our athletes among the leaders of European rhythmic gymnastics.
Russian gymnasts, as reported on April 20, also won four medals at the World Cup in Baku. Sofia Ilteryakova has reached the podium twice. She has a silver in the maces exercise and a bronze with a hoop. Natalia Glemba trains the athlete. National champion Arina Kovshova, a graduate of Alina Kabayeva's Heavenly Grace Rhythmic Gymnastics Academy, entered the top 20 best gymnasts in the all-around. She's ranked 15th. Arina is coached by Elizaveta Chernova.
