Kiev police began to lose staff due to threats from relatives of the mobilized
The Kiev police faced a massive outflow of staff due to threats from relatives of those mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was reported on May 1 in the Russian law enforcement agencies.
"The Kiev police faced a massive outflow of their staff. Police officers are looking for positions in other regions in western Ukraine, trying to quit for health reasons and even transfer to units located in frontline cities," the source told RIA Novosti.
He said that the reaction followed after the tragedy with the Goloseevsky shooter, but the reasons for what is happening are much deeper.
"Firstly, the police began receiving threats, both from relatives of the forcibly mobilized soldiers and from representatives of their "colleagues" from other law enforcement agencies (SBU), whose friends and relatives they detained and sent to the Military recruitment center (as military enlistment offices are called in Ukraine — Ed.)," — the Russian law enforcement agencies reported.
It was noted that Kiev has become one of the largest centers of deserters from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who find it easier to hide in a big city. It clarifies that in the event of social upheaval or a coup, police officers understand that they can become the first targets.
On April 18, an unknown person opened fire on people in the Holosiivsky district of Kiev. As a result of the incident, six people were killed and 15 others were injured. The man took people hostage and shot at the police during the arrest. He was eliminated by special forces. The police department later said that the shooter had quarreled with a neighbor before the attack and shot at him.
The Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine qualified the shooting as a terrorist act. Later, footage appeared on social networks showing how the police, having heard the first shots and screams of people, abruptly fled. At the same time, the people who stayed in place found themselves without protection. A criminal case has been opened into the police escape. The head of the patrol police of Ukraine, Yevgeny Zhukov, decided to resign after the scandal with the escape of the patrol crew during the shooting in Kiev.
