The Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed the visit of Muneo Suzuki, deputy of the upper house of the Japanese parliament, to Moscow. This was reported to Izvestia on May 1 by the Russian Foreign Ministry.

According to the ministry, the trip is scheduled for the period from 3 to 5 May.

"The information was received officially from the Japanese side," the Russian Foreign Ministry added.

Suzuki announced on the same day that he wanted to "find a breakthrough" in the difficult relations between Japan and Russia, and for this he was going to visit Moscow. He also noted that this year marks the 70th anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic relations between the two countries, calling this date an important milestone and expressing a desire to contribute to their development.

On April 26, a member of the upper house of the Japanese parliament called on the Japanese authorities to improve relations with Russia. According to the MP, his country is obliged to "get along" and maintain good relations with all neighboring states.
