Sobyanin recalled the tradition of spring cleaning in Moscow
Carrying out general spring cleaning in Moscow is a long-standing tradition of the capital, which testifies to the reverent attitude towards the city from both its residents and public utilities. Mayor Sergei Sobyanin wrote about this in his channel in the MAX.
According to him, the Moscow Glavarchiv has preserved photographs showing how the city was put in order decades ago.
"Today, the cleaning process has become simpler. Modern technologies and new equipment have appeared. But at the same time, the scale of work has grown along with the city," Sobyanin said.
The mayor recalled that this year, work on spring landscaping began as soon as the weather allowed. So, at the end of March, roads, facades of houses and engineering structures were washed. In April, comprehensive cleaning of public spaces and courtyards was organized, and playgrounds and sports grounds were renovated. "We have started to decorate the city with flowers — soon it will be bathed in bright colors. The fountains are already working and creating a warm mood," the mayor wrote.
In March, Sobyanin, congratulating Moscow utilities on their professional holiday, noted that from the first days of the year until the end of February, they "mobilized all their resources to combat record snowfalls." They were helped by "thousands of employees of energy, construction and other related enterprises of the Moscow Urban Economy Complex," the mayor recalled, thanking the utilities who "coped with their task."
With the onset of spring, employees of the housing and communal services sector are contributing to the transformation of the capital, which is becoming "a green, elegant, cozy and festive city," Sobyanin stressed. He thanked the utilities of the capital for their "tremendous work and high professionalism," as well as for their "invaluable contribution to the development of the best city on Earth."
