The Church does not set rules regarding additional items that can be placed on graves, while according to Christian tradition, a cross should be placed over each burial. This was announced by Priest Ilya Savastyanov in an interview with Izvestia.

"The church does not regulate the issue of items that are needed or not on graves. According to Christian tradition, there should be a cross over every Christian's burial, which, unfortunately, many people remove and throw away from their graves, thereby sinning," he said.

When visiting the cemetery on Trinity Parents' Saturday, which in 2026 falls on May 30, as a rule, people tidy up the burial place of a loved one, light a candle, say a prayer or just stand silently remembering the deceased. The priest noted that it is not uncommon on this day to bring food to the cemetery and leave it on the graves, but this tradition has nothing to do with the Orthodox faith.

In addition, it is not recommended to bring alcohol or arrange noisy funeral feasts at the cemetery on Trinity Saturday.

Earlier, the priest, head of the Youth Department of the Stavropol Diocese, Alvian Tkhelidze, said that Myrrh-bearing Women's Day, celebrated on the second Sunday after Easter, is traditionally considered a time of rest and prayer.
