The biologist told about the viruses found in the permafrost

Many viruses that have been found in permafrost are safe for humans. This was announced on April 30 by Peter Chumakov, a molecular biologist and academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, in an interview with RT.

"Viruses were initially practically isolated and discovered as pathogens of diseases, but now that such methods as sequencing have become available. <...> A huge number of different viruses are isolated, the genome of which can be analyzed and it can be said that this is a virus that belongs to some completely new species. And all these viruses are absolutely harmless," he said.
