Almost 40% of ticks in Primorye carry dangerous infections
The proportion of ticks infected with various infections reached 39.3% in Primorsky Krai. Bite cases were registered in 22 administrative territories.
According to the PrimaMedia news agency, the number of bites continues to grow. Rospotrebnadzor specialists remind that if a pest is found to have stuck, it should be removed as soon as possible and transferred to the laboratory of the Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology in Primorsky Krai and its branches for research. Specialists check ticks for four infections — viral encephalitis, ixodes tick-borne borreliosis, monocytic ehrlichiosis and human granulocytic anaplasmosis.
The most effective method of protection against encephalitis is vaccination. It is necessary to complete a full vaccination course two weeks before leaving for a disadvantaged area.
In Turkey, a man died after being bitten by a tick. During the examination, he was diagnosed with Congo-Crimean hemorrhagic fever.
