Belousov met with the Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Congo
Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov held a meeting with the Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Congo Raymond-Zephyren Mbulu. This was announced on April 30 by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation in the Maks messenger.
"During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of cooperation between the defense departments of the two countries, as well as topical aspects of regional security," the publication says.
The ministry noted that the meeting was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere, which is traditional for Russian-Congolese relations.
Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Denis Sassou Nguesso, President of the Republic of the Congo, a day earlier. At the meeting, he congratulated Sassou Nguesso on his recent re-election as President of the Republic of the Congo. He also stated the readiness of Russian companies to work in the republic's market, as there are "good business prospects" in the country. In addition, Putin invited Sassou Nguesso to the Russia–Africa forum, which will be held in Moscow in the fall of 2026.
The President of Congo, in turn, noted the availability of conditions for joint projects with the Russian Federation. According to Sassou Nguesso, the republic is considering new projects that can be developed with Moscow's support, including in the fields of economics and education.
