- The Russian Federation denied speculation about the consideration of the use of nuclear weapons in Ukraine
Russia denies unfounded speculation about Moscow's consideration of the possibility of using nuclear weapons in Ukraine. This was announced on April 29 by Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry Andrei Belousov.
"We consider it necessary to refute groundless speculation that Russia is allegedly considering the possibility of using nuclear weapons in Ukraine or threatening to use them," Belousov said at the review conference on the Treaty on the Non—Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), RIA Novosti reports.
On April 29, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Russia expects the conference on the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) to be effective and contribute to the nuclear non-proliferation regime. He noted that Russia is one of the leaders in the field of nuclear energy.
