Putin pointed to the right of the countries observing the provisions of the NPT to peaceful atom

Countries that comply with the provisions of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) have the right to use peaceful nuclear energy. This was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on April 29.

"We proceed from the fact that all countries that faithfully fulfill their obligations under the NPT have an indisputable right to enjoy the benefits of a peaceful atom," reads the President's address, which was read out by the head of the Russian delegation to the NPT Review Conference, Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry Andrei Belousov.
