Putin expressed his support for the attempted assassination of Trump
In a telephone conversation with Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his support for the American leader in connection with the assassination attempt. This was announced on April 29 by Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov.
"Putin first expressed words of support to the US president in connection with the attempted assassination attempt on him on April 25 at the Washington Hilton hotel," Ushakov said at a briefing.
According to Ushakov, fortunately, no one was injured, and the attacker was promptly neutralized by the security service. Putin also strongly condemned this crime, stressing the unacceptability of any form of politically motivated violence, the presidential aide added.
The fact that Trump and his wife, the first lady of the United States, Melania, were evacuated from the White House Correspondents' Association dinner after loud noises were heard there, became known on April 25. After a while, it was clarified that this noise was a shooting opened by a 31-year-old man.
Two days after the incident, the detainee was charged with the attempted murder of the American leader, for which he may now face life imprisonment. Then US Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche clarified that the defendant was charged with two more charges — illegal transportation of weapons and their use for the purpose of committing a violent crime.
