Analysts reported an increase in combining business trips with vacations
In Russia, more than 44% of employees always extend business trips, adding days for personal rest to them. This was reported to Izvestia on May 2 in the OneTwoTrip for Business service based on the results of the study.
According to analysts, the practice of combining work and leisure is becoming a steady trend. Most professionals perceive business trips not only as a work necessity, but also as an opportunity to see new cities and countries.
"The share of employees whose employers support the format of combining business trips with personal vacations has been maintained for several years at more than 30% of all business trips," said Stepan Mastryukov, head of OneTwoTrip for Business.
He added that by the end of 2025, the number of employees staying at the place of business trip for the weekend increased by 7%. According to the study, 61% of Russians call the opportunity to see a new place the main advantage of business trips, and 67% note the cognitive value of such trips.
Half of the respondents stated that extending a business trip helps to better maintain a balance between work and personal life. Another 33% consider saving on flights to be an important factor. An analysis of bookings showed that the main flow of such trips falls on domestic destinations. In the first quarter of 2026, 84% of weekend bookings were in Russia.
Moscow, St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg have become the most popular cities, while Sochi, Nizhny Novgorod and Kazan are also among the most sought-after destinations. China, the UAE and Turkey are the leaders among foreign destinations. According to the study, 80% of employees use regular weekends for recreation, 15% take vacations, and 5% take time off. However, most travelers prefer hotel accommodation.
Lyubov Voronina, Managing Director of the Let's Fly tour operator, said on April 21 that Russians can have inexpensive vacations in Vietnam, China and Georgia if they choose the right tickets and hotel. She noted that when booking only accommodation in Vietnam, there are hotels with a price of about $200 for two people for 10 nights, while meals and restaurant visits are also cheap.
