The municipality of Birobidzhan will pay 30 thousand rubles to a teenager bitten by a dog

In Birobidzhan, the family of a teenager who was bitten by an orphan dog will receive compensation for moral damage from the city authorities. The Birobidzhan District Court considered a civil case on the prosecutor's claim in defense of the rights of a minor.

According to IA EAOmedia, the court confirmed that the dog attack became possible due to the fact that the local government body improperly performed its duties on trapping and keeping stray animals. As a result, the child suffered physical and moral suffering.

The court granted the claim of the prosecutor's office in full and decided to collect moral compensation from the mayor's office of Birobidzhan in favor of the legal representative of the minor.

Earlier it was reported that during 2024, the Birobidzhan District Court accepted more than 20 claims for compensation for moral damage after a dog attack. Most of the victims are children from six to 14 years old. In most cases, the defendant is the city administration, and only in two cases are dog owners. The animals attacked people in the courtyards of residential buildings, near dumpsters, garages or on playgrounds. One of the incidents was recorded in the area of the children's hospital.
