A new tram route from the MKAD to the center will appear in Moscow.
Moscow will continue to expand the geography of the Moscow tram, according to the channel of the personal blog of the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, in the Maks messenger. In particular, the first non—stop tram will appear, which will run from the MKAD to the city center - from Stalevarov Street to Kursky Railway Station and the Garden Ring.
One of the new lines, about 4 km long, will run from the Ivanovskoye district to 3rd Vladimirskaya Street, where it will join the existing network. The line will radically improve the transport accessibility of the Ivanovskoye district, where 130,000 Muscovites live, Sobyanin said in his blog.
According to the mayor, locals now use buses to get to the metro, but the journey takes 30-40 minutes. The tram ride to the Highway Enthusiasts station will be reduced by 40% to 23 minutes. It will be possible to get to Aviamotornaya in 29 minutes instead of 42.
Another new route will connect Ivanovskoye with the Semenovskaya metro station. A tram line with five stops will run separately from the traffic flow. The project includes the organization of two intercept parking lots and a turnaround area for electric buses equipped with charging stations.
"The development of tram services is a significant contribution of the Moscow government to the implementation of the national project Infrastructure for Life," wrote the mayor of the capital. He called the revival of the tram one of the most noticeable trends in Moscow transport in recent years.
The creation of diametrical routes has made a huge contribution to the growing popularity of trams, Sobyanin noted. So, since the launch of the T1 route in November 2025, 10 million trips have been made on it. The daily passenger traffic in the corridor between the Universitet metro station and the Metro City doubled from 60,000 to 120,000 trips per day.
Currently, 86 districts of Moscow are connected by a network of 36 routes and 432 km of tracks. Passengers make over 830,000 trips daily, twice as many as in 2020. By 2030, the number of trips is projected to grow to 1.2 million per day.
