Military personnel of the air defense units of the 1194 regiment of the Southern Group of Forces successfully carry out combat missions to counter enemy drones in the area of a special military operation. On April 29, the fighters told Izvestia about their combat work.

"This engine is all that remains of the Ukrainian drone, which the enemy was going to use to launch a terrorist attack on our rear areas, on peaceful cities. Fortunately, thanks to the air defense units of the 1194 regiment, he, like many other Ukrainian drones, did not reach the target," said Izvestia correspondent Egor Kildibekov.

It is noted that such an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) could carry up to 100 kg of explosives, therefore, in the event of a strike, the consequences would be significant.

"They were shot down with small arms and a machine gun. A mobile firing group," said the commander of an anti—aircraft missile battery with the call sign Draga.

Currently, the 1194 regiment is carrying out tasks to liberate the village of Konstantinovka and further advance. In an operation, air defense units are tasked with covering forces on the ground from possible air strikes. Military personnel work both on the front line, covering the advancing assault units, and in the rear, protecting logistics routes, supplies, and crossings of heavy equipment.

"We are covering absolutely everything — tanks, artillery, attack aircraft, factories, warehouses. There are a lot of tasks," said the chief of regiment 1194 with the call sign Sokol.

Fighters are watching the sky at specially equipped air surveillance posts. One of them also has a special shelter for personnel.

"This shelter is designed to accommodate military personnel in case it rains, something else, or bad weather. And you can hide here, warm up. As it is, the guys are on duty 24/7. They constantly look at the sky and monitor it," Draga said.
