Both political and military power in Iran is passing into the hands of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) amid the conflict with the United States and Israel and the death of the country's previous supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. This was reported by the Reuters news agency on April 28.

"Wartime pressure has concentrated power in a narrow, tougher inner circle, rooted in the Supreme National Security Council (NSC), the Office of the Supreme Leader and the IRGC, which now dominates both military strategy and key policy decisions," the publication says.
