Two counterfeit banknotes were withdrawn from circulation in the Murmansk region

Two counterfeit banknotes were identified in the Murmansk region in the first quarter of 2026. Residents of the region are asked to be careful when using cash.

According to the Bi-port news agency, the face value of the fakes was 5,000 rubles. No counterfeit foreign currency notes were found.

The protective signs of the banknote can be detected by light, by touch and when tilted. You can verify the authenticity of the bills yourself. Training is provided for cashiers to determine the authenticity of banknotes.

By the end of 2025, the turnover of counterfeit banknotes in the Murmansk region has halved. In total, eight fakes were found.
